The year 2018 is just moments away and as usual, I’m sat here reflecting on what has been and what will be in the next year. I’ve learnt a lot this past year and I can’t wait to see what 2018 brings!
2017 for me was the year of change. I knew in order to become the inner person I have always wanted to be I needed the changes in my life for my business. This meant setting some goals to work towards and laying the foundation for both myself and my business to grow from.
First lesson of the year: post meaningful things that you believe in.
A goal should scare you a little, and excite you a lot. - Joe Vitale #quote— Charmaine (@Blissful_Tiger) January 3, 2017
Setting goals was an alien concept to me. I had no idea how to see valuable goals that were meaningful and useful to my life and business. It takes practice to get the right goals set that makes sense for the stepping stones of building a business but once I grasped the idea it became so much easier.
Throughout this year I increased the amount I posted to my blog and although life things took priority by the end of the year, I am proud to say I actually achieved what I set out to do.
The year has taught me to accept who I am and to build confidence in myself. Although I have grown in character, I still find myself hesitant to publish most of the posts I write but this is a habit that is slowly being replaced with a less hesitant self.
2018 goal: To write about the subjects I enjoy most and not to be afraid of posting them.
Photography has always been one of my favourite past times but for some reason, I stopped.
In 2017, I changed. My camera was dusted off and my dog and I walked for miles to take photos of the outside world. Flowers were my main subject whilst I learned about light and shadow and the rain made such a pretty subject.
2018 goal: Push my boundaries even further and take my photography to the next level.
Recently I realised I had let go of a very important part of myself which kept me balanced. I stopped drawing but, I love to draw! Hobbies are an important part of taking care of yourself.
2018 goal: Draw more often even if it is a doodle.
Being yourself has got to be one of the hardest lessons for any of us. I’m still working on being my fullest self but I do know that in time my true self will shine through.
Remember that being yourself will make you happy and being happy is all any of us want and need.
2018 goal: Be yourself no matter what.
Life and Family
Last but not least, family and life changes. We had our third child and moved to a new home within less than 3 months apart. This is the moment I realised I needed to be far more organised to achieve a work/life balance and to plan things out beforehand.
2018 goal: To finally get fit and be confident.
My Official Word for 2018
And finally, my official word for this coming year is doing. In 2017 I spent a lot of time changing myself for the future. Now that the foundations have been set it’s time to let go of self-doubt and fear to make a better future in life and business by doing the things I have learnt and sharing my lessons of 2017.
No matter what you are trying to achieve, you need to believe in you even when others will not because the only opinion that counts is yours.
Let’s make 2018 an amazing year!
